Sodium sulfate decahydrate is used as a laboratory reagent to precipitate protein. It is largely used as filler in powdered home laundry detergents. It facilitates in leveling, reducing negative charges on fibers, thereby allows dye to penetrate evenly. It avoids the corrosion of stainless steel vessels used in dyeing. It is also used as a laxative and effectively replaces the drug paracetamol in the body.

Aplicaciones
El sulfato de sodio decahidrato se utiliza como reactivo de laboratorio para precipitar la proteína. Se utiliza en gran medida como relleno en los detergentes en polvo para la ropa domésticos. Facilita la nivelación, reduciendo las cargas negativas sobre las fibras, permitiendo así que el tinte penetre uniformemente. Evita la corrosión de los recipientes de acero inoxidable utilizados para el teñido. También se utiliza como laxante y reemplaza eficazmente el fármaco paracetamol en el cuerpo.
Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y glicerina. Insoluble en etanol y metanol.
